Registration
What are the steps to register for a program online?
How do I sign up for soccer class?
Registration is available 24 hours a day through our online registration system. You may use this website to first create an account from our “REGISTER NOW” link, then select the name of the child in your account you want to register and then “Register.” You will see a listing of public and private classes (when available) for your child’s age.
If you select a parent organized class, their name will be at the end of the title. Once registered, the email confirmation will have the contact info for the parent organizer of the group.
What form of payment do you accept?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, and e-check via our secure online registration
I have friends that would like to join the same class. How do we do this?
You can sign up for any of our classes listed on our Upcoming Sessions page. If you’d like to confirm that there are enough spots available for you and your friends, please email info@brit-am.com. Once confirmed, you’ll register online and tell your friends which class you signed up for. Please ask them to register quickly as our class sizes are limited.
If you have 9 or more friends, you may wish to create your own private class. Please email info@brit-am.com to set up a private class. There is a 10 player private group minimum, the class runs for 8 weeks, and the parent coordinator receives their child’s class for free).
I am interested in a program hosted at a public school my child does not attend. Can my child join?
For Tots, PDL and Skills clinics, all age appropriate children are eligible to join our public group programs that are listed for registration. For After School classes, players must attend the school to register for that program.
I don't see my neighborhood on your class list, when will you be offering soccer classes here?
We serve many locations and are expanding based on requests. Please call us at 301-656-2636 or send an email to info@brit-am.com to let us know where you would like to have class.
I want to organize my own class. What is the next step?
We offer private class options in the spring, fall and winter seasons. Spring classes start in late March, fall classes start in early September, and winter classes start in December/January.
Please see the Create a Class page to submit a booking form with all your details. We will then work with you to set up the class. We do our best to add classes if at all possible even after the season has gotten underway.
Tots Classes & Other Clinics
What age can my child begin Brit-Am Soccer?
Our Petite Tots program begins with children age 2. This class requires an adult to accompany the child during the entire session led by our coaches who incorporate fun activities along with kicking the soccer ball into the games. For independent play, children may begin at age 3 in our mini-tots program. Our age requirements are based on the age of the child on the first day of class.
My child is Age 4/5, should they do Tots or PDL?
What equipment should my child have to play in a Tots class?
Each player should bring a size 3 soccer ball, a water bottle, shin guards, comfortable athletic shoes (cleats optional) and wear comfortable athletic clothing.
Does my child need special soccer gear or a uniform?
We provide a t-shirt and your child may wear gym shorts/pants and athletic shoes. Many children wear their t-shirt to each class as part of their “soccer uniform”.
Players should bring a size 3 soccer ball, shin guards and water. Equipment is available to purchase in the registration process and it will be brought to the first class, or you can purchase at area sporting goods stores.
Do you offer a trial class?
Sorry, we do not. In order to keep our class size controlled and our classes well organized we do not offer trial classes. Our coaches are all trained to work with all levels of players and encourage participation from everyone.
I have another child that is not in your program, can I bring him/her to class?
We welcome all family members to watch the class, but siblings not enrolled in the class cannot participate and must stay off the playing field/gym floor for safety and liability reasons. They must be under parent supervision for the duration of the class. Sorry, siblings must also refrain from the use of our soccer equipment. Again, this is for your child’s safety.
Should we bring a drink and snack to class?
Please send your child with water. We allow for water breaks and when it is hot they need lots of water. We do not have snack time and discourage children from snacking on the field. Many groups organize a snack after the class if their schedules permit.
About Brit-Am
What makes Brit-Am Soccer different from other soccer programs?
Steve Knapman, the owner of Brit-Am Soccer, grew up in England and shares his lifelong passion for the game through every class. Steve played in the British Academy system with Oldham Athletic. He has played against David Beckham and many other famous European players. Steve holds A USSF A license and an English Football Association Preliminary Badge. He has studied soccer coaching techniques from some the world’s best professional youth programs (like Brazil, Italy and Holland) and brings this experience to all Brit-Am coaches and classes. Our coaches are all PROFESSIONAL SOCCER COACHES. They are committed to working with children at every level teaching them skills. We emphasize learning while having fun, using the same drills as the professional training international youth programs. Our classes are carefully planned and organized to give your child plenty of attention in a positive environment while learning the wonderful game of soccer. We keep our class sizes manageable so there are enough children to make each group fun and not too many that the coach can’t ensure everyone has the opportunity to learn.
What qualifications do Brit-Am coaches have?
All our coaches are background checked each year by the National Center for Safety Initiatives. Coaches working for Brit-Am Soccer love the game of soccer and teaching it. We have more than 30 coaches, many of whom have played in the Washington Metropolitan Area as a youth, continued on through college and now bring their knowledge to your children. We have a number of coaches who grew up and played internationally at various levels. Most of our coaches work with competitive youth soccer teams throughout the year. Our coaches are continually trained as we introduce new fun games and each coach is evaluated during the season. All the coaching staff will have gone through one or more of the US Soccer coaching licenses to ensure they are fully trained.
How does the US Soccer coaching license system work?
Courses are held around the country throughout the year. Applicants must register online and if accepted, attend the course in its entirety. During every course, coaches will be subject to a number of classroom and field sessions. Final testing will be conducted which will include, laws of the game, written & oral tests and field testing. Coaches who pass are then allowed to apply to attend the higher license no earlier than 12 months from the time the previous license was achieved.
Courses available:
- Grassroots license (National & State)
- D – license (National & State)
- C – license (National)
- B – license (National)
- A Youth – license (National)
- A Senior – license (National)

Programs are refundable less a $50 non refundable fee up to 21 days of the first day of the session (Camps are less a $100 non refundable.) There are no refunds after that date.
Reservation Change Fee: Please be certain you have made a reservation for the correct class. If a change needs to be made to move to another class within the same season, you will be charged a $20 fee if space is available, up to 21 days prior to the first day of the session. Changes cannot be made after that time.
What is the Class Change Policy?
Reservation Change Fee: Please be certain you have made a reservation for the correct class. If a change needs to be made to move to another class within the same season, you will be charged a $20 fee up to 21 days prior to the start of the session of the reservation, if space is available. Changes cannot be made within 21 days of the start of the session.
My child is sick and will not attend class. What should I do?
If you’re signed up for a public class you can reply to your confirmation or welcome email to let our office staff know and we can pass it on to the coach, or if you’re in a private class please let your parent coordinator know not to expect your child and the coordinator can pass that on to the coach.
Do you offer make-up classes for individuals?
We understand that children may miss a class due to a schedule conflict or illness. Since we use all dates available to hold classes we cannot accommodate individual requests for a make-up. We do provide make-up sessions for entire classes that are rained out, for up to one rainout a season.
How will I know if my class is canceled due to weather?
Public classes will be notified via email at a minimum 1 hour before the class from our office staff. Private groups will be notified by the parent coordinator of the group if the class is cancelled. Most coordinators email their families once they determine with us that the class is cancelled.
When possible, we will also post an announcement on the weather tab on our website. We usually make the determination closer to the start of the class (unless it’s a washout) since spotty rainy days can be challenging as it’s not always raining in every location.
My child didn't participate at the first class. Can I get a refund?
We encourage parents of children who are too shy or uninterested at the first session to keep trying and bring their child back to each class. Helping them get comfortable in a new surrounding with lots of positive encouragement goes a long way.
If you would like the coach to meet you a few minutes before a session to talk one-on-one with your child just let us know so we can arrange it. Due to the limited number of spaces in each group, we do not offer refunds within 21 days prior to the first class.
