About Goalkeeper Clinics

The Brit-Am Soccer Academy’s Goalkeeper School offers training in Rockville, Potomac, and Bethesda, Maryland, to goalkeepers in grades 3-12 the experience to learn the basics and beyond from a professional Brit-Am goalkeeper coach with 20+ years of playing experience and certified by United Soccer Coaches.

Each goalkeeping clinic offered will cover the following topics:

• Warm-ups and cool-downs: what kind of drills can be done before and after each game to optimize performance, improve mobility, and reduce and prevent injury
• Body positioning: how to properly be positioned for any kind of shot, including corner and penalty kicks, upper 90s, breakaways, and crossovers
• Speed, agility, and quickness: how to get to the ball quickly, while maintaining technique, balance, and body control
• Ball distribution: when to use what kind of distribution (punting, kicking, passing, throwing, or rolling the ball) in games and how to perfect technique for better accuracy and more power
• Diving: how to react to shots on the ground or in the air
• On-field communications: why it’s important to be vocal as a goalkeeper and what communications methods are effective in getting messages heard

All the drills shown in Brit-Am Soccer Academy’s Goalkeeper Training Clinic can be done by the goalkeepers on their own, helping them build structure and routine in their practices and games.

With this thorough curriculum and training methodology set in place, the end goal is for goalkeepers to not only further develop skills but also confidence in the net.
