Brit-Am Soccer Academy is a locally owned business founded in 1999 by British-born and former English professional player Steve Knapman. Sharing his love of soccer with players of all ages and training coaches to join him remains Steve’s passion today.
With more than 40 enthusiastic coaches and hundreds of programs each season, we are the leading Washington, DC and Montgomery County, Maryland area provider of soccer programs including classes for toddlers, tots, and pre-school age children, and skills clinics and league play for Kindergarten-8th graders. Our popular soccer camps are a favorite experience for soccer players throughout the area.
Each year we introduce thousands of toddlers to soccer through our fun-focused environment. Our programs also include summer day camps, residential camps, high school prep camps, team training, afterschool sessions, and individual training. Our staff of former professional and collegiate soccer players are licensed and well respected within the soccer community.
From the inexperienced player to the advanced, from the little ones to the high school age, we can surpass the developmental needs of all players. Our energetic and dynamic coaches are able to provide soccer experiences that are beyond compare.
The Brit-Am Soccer Academy All Stars Program
The All Stars Academy believes that positive, joyful, and purposeful development are paramount to the growth of every player. These young players are the future of the Academy and consequently, the All Stars Academy strives to provide our players with a modern teaching methodology and player centric curriculum to maximize their development. Every year our All Stars program has experienced major success by helping it’s players develop into the best version of themself as a soccer player. In addition, our players have gone on to play at competitive travel levels and ultimately for many at the collegiate level. We look forward to seeing this success continue and grow with even more players benefiting from our program.

We believe that the enjoyment of the game remains the most important element for success. Therefore by providing our players with a fun and growth oriented learning environment in which players can learn and practice the fundamental aspects of the game across all age groups by giving everyone purposeful age appropriate training. Our training methodology will enable your player with the tools they need to meet and overcome the challenges ahead. The developmental journey at the academy will raise your players self-esteem but above all they will have fun and enjoy the game.
About Steve Knapman
Steve has been coaching in the Maryland, D.C. and Virginia area for twenty six years and Steve holds an English Football Association B-License and USSF A – License.
Steve has worked with thousands of players, hundreds of teams and for several DMV area clubs. Steve’s experience as a coach includes local league, tournament, regional and international championships. From 2017 to 2023, Steve was the Technical Director of Potomac Soccer Association where he created a club wide curriculum in order to provide constant coaching education and to train the players consistently throughout the age bands that were aligned with the models established by US Soccer Federation.
In 2014 he joined the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association coaching staff where he trains new coaches and those advancing in their training throughout the State.
Steve’s playing career began in England at 16 as a trainee with Oldham Athletic where he got to play against the likes of David Beckham and Paul Scholes. He also had short spells at Wigan Athletic and Blackpool before moving to Hong Kong where he played in their professional first division. When he came to the United States, Steve was a member of the professional Maryland Mania team in 1999 and trained with DC United for 6 months in 1998 where he was coached by Ex US National Mens Team Coaches Bruce Arena and Bob Bradley.
