Alan Lydiate is currently the Director of Coaching for Brit-Am Soccer Academy, coaching children from the ages of 3yrs -18yrs. He holds USSF C license, and an English FA (Level 1 & 2) certificate in coaching.
Alan also played for a semi-professional team called, Blackpool Wren Rovers. As a school boy he attended the Bobby Charlton School of Soccer at the same time as the famous David Beckham. There he was picked to represent the school and England, in an international tournament held in Stoke-on-Trent England. After coaching children in England as a volunteer he decided to pursue it as a career and moved to the USA in 2003/2004. Alan's duties as a coach for Brit-Am S.A. are tot classes 3yrs- 6yrs in the spring and fall, and all ages at camps in the summer.
Alan has worked with Steve Knapman as assistant coach for his teams, until taking a head coaching position on a MSI classic team the fusion yr 13 boys 2006. At the beginning of the fall season 2006 he also took on a head coaching position of the OBGC Galaxy yr 13 boys team, and for the start of the Fall season 2008 he will start a yr 10 Potomac NCSL boys team. In the mean time Alan continues to provide team training session for the DSC dynamos yr 11 boys and the Seneca rockets yr 11 boys team whenever possible.

Jeff Withers (speed, agility, strength and conditioning coach) is
an ex-professional soccer player, who played in Ireland and
also for Northern Virginia Royals. Jeff holds a USSF E
license and he is currently working up the grading ladder.
His professional background is in Physical Therapy and also
as strength and conditioning instructor. His combination of
training, nutrition, wellness and education works in both
team and individualized programs. Training both the body and
the mind, you will not only see an increase in performance,
but also a decrease in instances of injury. Jeff will be the
head trainer with Brit-Am Soccer Academy for all soccer
related speed, agility, strength and conditioning activities
& clinics. He is a certified specialist and his work has
enhanced programs at NIH, TNT Fitness, Sport & Health and
the National Fitness Institute.

Rene
San Martin has been coaching
children for 13 years and he is a big favorite with the kids
during our summer programs. His excellent skills as a player
makes him a wonderful teacher of the fundamentals and techniques
needed in today's game and he holds a USSF youth and C -
License. Rene currently coaches the following teams - DSC
Predators NCSL U14 Boys - Div 3 DSC Fusion United NCSL
U15 Boys Div 5 and Blue Steel MSI Classic Girls U14 Div 1.

Josh
Bonnin holds his USSF D coaching license and has been
involved in coaching locally for over 10 years. Josh has over 22
years playing experience. He was raised in MD and played for
Sherwood High School then attended Virginia Tech on a soccer
scholarship. After his career was cut short due to injuries,
Josh graduated from Virginia Tech in 2004 and has been working
his way up the coaching ladder since. He currently is the head
coach for the MSC Shamrocks U14 in WAGS and an assistant at
Sherwood High School

Matias
Salina was born in Buenos Aires Argentina. He has been
coaching soccer for almost 5 years (Lil Kickers - Rockville
sportsplex) and has loved coaching the different aged kids.
Matias is currently coaching an NCSL team (Calverton Barza Jrs.)
and recently played for two years at Montgomery College. This
year Matias will getting his NCAA license and also the USSF - E
coaching license. Matias loves teaching kids soccer, especially
when they learn the skills, and he see's them progress each and
every time they step onto the pitch. |

Garland Cannon is a USSF D-Licensed coach who also played for D.C United in 2004 and also in the German Bundesliga. "G.R." as he is known will be with us this year as an outfield player trainer, team trainer and tots coach. |

Hannah
Wenzel played four years and was an MVP and
two-year captain at Smith College. She has been coaching in the
DC area for the past four years and currently holds a USSF
National D license (C license pending June 2008). In June 2007,
Hannah was invited to travel to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to train
soccer coaches and promote youth soccer. She has also played for
a total of two years in Germany. |

Jill Rutten was a
professional female player for 16 years in Japan, Sweden,
Italy (2-time Italian champs), Germany and Switzerland She
was also a U.S. National Team player. Jill holds USSF D
license and currently coaches U11 Chili Peppers and U8 Olney
Freedom and assists U14 Olney Lightning. |

Michael Elfman is a
very knowledgeable coach who holds United
States Soccer Federation National 'A' and 'Youth' licenses,
Coverciano Academia (Italia) Youth Trainer's License and is
a UEFA 'B' license candidate for 2010. Mike played as a
schoolboy in England, Italia, Bahrain and Cyprus. During his
many years of coaching Mike has coached in youth tournaments
in England, Italia, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands and
Austria.

Ryan Walter has been
involved in soccer for 13 years. He played soccer for Walt
Whitman HS and continued his play with the club team at
Vanderbilt University. He started coaching last summer and
has already obtained his USSF D license, and desires to
coach at the highest level. He is currently an Assistant
Coach for the Damascus Soccer Club's U9 boys and girls teams
and their select player Soccer Academy, as well as a Head
Coach for the Seneca Soccer Club Youth Program.

Edie Espinoza holds his USSF D coaching license and has been coaching for 5 years now. Edie has been playing soccer for over 20 years. He played U-21 professional in Peru where he played against todays Peruvian top soccer players like Jefferson Farfan of Shalke 04 and Paolo Guerrero of Hamburg FC. Edie is the head coach for the following teams - Alianza Lima de MD U10, Alianza Lima de MD U10 Alianza Lima de MD U11 and Potomac United U15. All teams are MSI Classic. |

BRIT-AM GOAL KEEPER COACHES |
|
Billy Warren is currently the Junior Varsity
coach at Sherwood High School. He was the goalkeeper coach for
Sherwood during their 2004 and 2005, 4A State Championship title
seasons. He has coached both boys and girls varsity teams at
local high schools. At the collegiate level, he worked with the
goalkeepers at the University of Maryland, Shenandoah
University, Montgomery College at Rockville and Strayer College
of Baltimore.
At the professional level Billy played and coached for such
teams as Toluca of the Mexican 1st Division, the Washington
Stars, Maryland Bays, Washington Diplomats, DC United and DC
United’s Youth Program.
Billy currently holds his C license from the U.S.S.F.. He holds
a Football Teachers Certificate as well his Preliminary Badge
from Ireland. Billy also holds a certificate in goalkeeping
instruction from the Scottish Football Association. He has
worked with the Cayman Island National Team goalkeepers,
Northern Ireland School Boys U-12 thru U-17 National Teams as
well as professional clubs in Northern Ireland, Guatemala,
Mexico and Israel. |

Jonah Schuman has been coaching in the DC Area for nine years. He is currently a coach with the
DC Stoddert Soccer Club, coaching U9, U10 and U16 travel teams.
He has also been coaching with MSI in both their classic and
recreational leagues since 2001. In addition he serves as
goalkeeper coach for St. John's College High School in
Washington, DC and the Maryland Pride of the WPSL. Jonah holds a
USSF 'D' License and a NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma.

| COACHING OPPORTUNITIES |

Brit-Am Soccer Academy is always looking to add to our coaching staff, in order to maintain our high levels of teaching and keep up with the demands of today's soccer society. Individuals that are experienced, motivated, knowledgeable, fun and reliable are always welcome within the company.
Coaches will be involved in teaching our team training programs, summer camps, outdoor & indoor skills clinics, one-on-one lessons, tot classes (mini, tiny & graduate) and birthday parties.
Coaching candidates should reflect at least one if not all of the following:
A background of prior experience in playing and/or participating in the game; or coaching of the game at a level that is relevant for the expressed age group of interest; Completed a USSF or NSCAA licensing coaching course that is appropriate for the expressed age group of interest within the last 2 years( MSYSA requires all travel coaches to have a E license at minimum); Demonstrated passion for the game that is reflected in experience of participation, Continuing education or background relevant to the age group of interest.
New coaches that apply should be prepared to conduct at least one training session. The topic, age group and location are to be determined by the Director of Coaching and his staff. The session should reflect the coach’s plan to address three main components: the training objective, warm-up, and the main activity. The main activity should reflect a progression of activities that lead to a match conditioned conclusion.
