Residential camps are for committed soccer players who want to improve their individual skills and knowledge of the game while experiencing the total camp experience. Brit-Am Soccer Academy has been running residential camps for 7 years and has designed its program to meet the needs of the individual player or team in today's fast flowing game.
We offer a camp for the individual, small group or as a member of a team, and each player is challenged in every aspect of today's modern game.
During our morning session we concentrate on technical training, covering the following topics:
- Dribbling
- Running with the ball
- Fakes & turns
- Taking on opponents (1v1, 2v2)
- Speed, agility & conditioning
- Passing (short, drives, chips, curls)
- Shooting (power shots & finishing)
- Defending (1v1, 2v2)
- Ball control (ground, bouncing and out of the air)
- Heading (defending & attacking)
Players progress to the essentials of team play and tactics in the afternoon session with emphasis on being creative and being able to know what to do under pressure.
- Combination play towards goal
- Overlapping options to create space and 2 v1's
- Building out of the back
- Switching the point of attack
- Corner Kicks (defending & attacking)
- Learning & Understanding player positions
- Free Kicks in scoring range
- Team Pressure to win back possession (High, Medium & Low)
- Keeping possession for the team (building confidence on the ball)
During our evening session, players are encouraged to play freely and practice all they they have been working on during the week. This is done by creating a game environment. Players get to play in a scrimmage format against the other players at the camp.
Away from the field we also like to maintain a soccer learning atmosphere and we do this through some of the following activities:
- Video sessions
- Discussions on Nutrition, Health & Fitness
- Simple soccer assignments
- Soccer Quiz night
- Player evaluations
GOALKEEPER TRAINING
- Footwork, Balance and positioning
- Shot stopping
- Dealing with crosses
- Diving for saves, deflections and 1v1’s
- Kicking and distribution
- Decision making and communication
- Real game situations
