Brit-Am Coaches
Alan Lydiate
(Brit-Am
director of coaching) is
currently work for Brit-Am Soccer Academy, coaching children
from the ages of 3yrs -18yrs. He holds a USSF, E & National
D license, and an English Football Association (Level 1& 2)
Certificate in coaching. Alan started playing competitive
football (soccer) at the age of 4yrs through to the age of
15yrs at which time he was picked to play for his home town
team Blackpool school boys. Alan also played for a
semi-professional team called, Blackpool Wren Rovers. As a
school boy he attended the bobby Charlton School of soccer
at the same time as the famous David Beckham. There he was
picked to represent the school and England, in an
international tournament held in stoke-on-Trent England.
After coaching children in England as a volunteer he decided
to pursue it as a career and moved to the USA in 2003/2004.
Alan's duties as a coach for Brit-Am S.A. are tot
classes 3yrs- 6yrs in the spring and fall, and all ages at
camps in the summer. Alan has worked with Steve Knapman as
assistant coach for his teams, until taking a head coaching
position on a MSI classic team the fusion yr 13 boys 2006.
At the beginning of the fall season 2006 he also took on a
head coaching position of the OBGC Galaxy yr 13 boys team,
and for the start of the spring season 2007 he will start a
yr 8 Seneca raiders boys team. In the mean time Alan
continues to provide team training session for the DSC
dynamos yr 11 boys and the Seneca rockets yr 11 boys team
whenever possible.
Rene San Martin has been coaching children for 13
years and he is a big favorite with the kids during our summer
programs. His excellence skills as a player makes him a
wonderful teacher of the fundamentals and techniques needed in
today's game and he holds a USSF youth and C - License.

Garland Cannon -
Hannah Wenzel played four
years and was an MVP and two-year captain at Smith College. She
has been coaching in the DC area for the past four years and
currently holds a USSF National D license (C license pending
June 2008). In June 2007, Hannah was invited to travel to Addis
Ababa, Ethiopia to train soccer coaches and promote youth
soccer. She has also played for a total of two years in Germany.
Brian Taylor - is one of our
youngest coaches but
has been coaching in the area for 6 years with kids
of all ages. Brian has been working with Brit-Am for the same
length of time both in camps and during seasons doing skills
training clinics. Brian currently works with Damascus Soccer
Club also and privately with several travel players. Brian
currently holds the USSF E-License badge and he played locally
with Freestate Soccer club and in Washington DC for St. John's
Cadets where he was All Conference player for 2 years.

Goal Keeping Coach
Alan Kelly
(Ex D.C. United Goalkeeper Coach)
will be working with again for his 8th year. He played over 60 times for the Republic of Ireland and is a member of the Irish Soccer Hall of Fame. Alan
also played against the legendary PELE in Brazil. In January
2007, Alan was voted the best goalkeeper of all time for his
club, Preston North End, of which he also has a part of the
P.N.E. stadium named after him and Alan topped the poll with 61%
of the votes!
Camp counselors
Danielle Moreau
- currently plays and captains a Div.3 WAGS team under
Dave Kovack (director of coaching for Damascus soccer club). She
holds a USSF 'E' Coaching license and will be taking the
'D' license this winter. Danielle hopes to be going to play
college soccer, and is looking at both division 1 and division 3
schools. She has worked with lots of kids in the Damascus soccer
club (coached with a few u9 teams and done advanced skills
sessions, and the Damascus pups and soccer academy with Tony
Mcpeak)
