About Brit-Am

Brit-Am Soccer Academy is a British/American company with a passion for soccer. Brit-Am was established in 1999 by President Steve Knapman (see about Steve). Brit-Am and its staff (see Brit-am staff) are committed to the English Football Association Model of Long Term Player Development (LTPD). It has formulated this model to fit the needs of the player in its local communities.

The diversity of participation in soccer is huge. Brit-am has adopted the English Football Association’s 8 stage model of long term player development as shown below. This example describes an age appropriate development pathway over time.

Introduction to Long Term ‘Player’ Development

STAGES 1-2

1. FUNdamentals - 3 to 8 years old - Ages may overlap
2. Enjoying practice - 8 to 11 years old - ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AGE

STAGES 3-4

3. Developing practice - 11 to 14 years old - Ages may overlap
4. Training for competition - 14 to 16 years old - MIDDLE SCHOOL AGE

STAGES 5-6

5. Understanding competition - 16 to 18 years old - Ages may overlap
6. Developing winning - 18 to 20 years old – HIGH SCHOOL AGE

STAGES 7-8

7. Training to win - 20 years old plus - Ages may overlap
8. Retaining people in soccer - Any age applies – COLLEGE & ADULT AGE

Through the use of specially designed tactical and technical practices, each player will be taken through a step by step training schedule necessary for today’s player to compete at all levels of the game.

The qualified coaching staff consists of present and past professional players, including the expertise of Alan Kelly (D.C. United & Rep. of Ireland International) who will make our goalkeeper program the best you can find.

Brit-Am Soccer Academy challenges all players, regardless of experience to a week of hard work and chance to improve their own personal skills.

Come be a part of the New Brit-Am Soccer Academy Experience!
